Lots of Learning Going On!

Tom Turner discussing off camera flash

Tom Turner discussing off camera flash

A fun and educational time was had by all during The Creative Light’s first workshop on Saturday, May 23rd. Tom Turner, instructor, brought loads of equipment and the students, Nancy Damron, Joyce Seibel, and Alexei Wood, all spent four hours learning and experimenting with off camera flashes.

When asked what she thought Tom Turner’s greatest strength was as an instructor, student Joyce Seibel said, “Personable. Tom was easy going and down to earth. I found him easy to communicate with and I loved that he interacted so well with all of us”.

Tom Turner: Teacher Extraordinaire

I want to introduce you to Tom Turner, one of the instructors at The Creative Light. His impressive knowledge about photography makes him a great resource for anyone whwhole image largero wants to make their photographs better. I am always gaining knowledge from him and certainly when I have a technical question I go to Tom. He is a really nice guy and is eager to help students understand.

So if you want to meet this guy, he is teaching two classes for The Creative Light. The first one is “Exploring Off Camera Flash” on May 23rd. This is a great opportunity to figure out how to add that little touch of light to your images without having people say “Aw you used your flash”. Don’t you hate it when people talk about your technique and not your image. So here is your chance to gain those skills.

He will also be teaching “Lightroom Workflow – Lightroom Lite” on June 27th. This will be the beginning of our Lightroom classes because this program is way too deep to be taught in its entirety in four hours. Tom is an avid Lightroom user and if anyone can teach you about this software it is Tom!

I will certainly be a student at both of these classes and maybe we will see you there.

How to Use Your Digital Camera!

How to use your Digital Camera!

Have you ever thought that your digital SLR camera might be smarter than you? Would you like to learn how to aHow to use your camera imagectually control your camera and take your photographs on manual? Well here is your opportunity to learn how to do just that. In four hours you will learn the basics of your manual controls and how you can use them to create even better images than you do now.

For example, you will learn how to put Depth of Field to work to create the images you see in your head. Did you know that the definition of Depth of Field is – the distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image. We will go into this in depth so you can use it in your own images.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call Nancy at 210-367-0724 for answers. If there is anything Nancy likes to talk about it is photography. And for more information on the class such as when or where take a look on Class Page. And in the meantime pick up your camera and go out and shoot!
